How a macroalgae batch is traced

A batch is a day, not a warehouse

At Ecoalga a batch corresponds to a harvest day in a defined area of the marsh. That is the smallest unit we can guarantee, and it is what lets us answer a specific question months later: where did this pallet come from.

What is recorded

• Harvest date and tide window.
• Cultivation area within the Río Piedras marshes.
• Washing, grading and processing route followed by that biomass.
• Presentation and load unit dispatched.
• Analysis associated with that day.

Why it only works with own cultivation

If the algae is bought from third parties, the chain breaks at the first link: you can record what you received, but not the conditions in which it grew. We cultivate, harvest and process it ourselves, and that is the reason the record holds.

Beach-cast algae, the seaweed washed ashore by the tide, cannot be traced this way. It can be collected and used, but nobody knows where it grew or for how long it was in the water.

What the customer receives

A delivery note stating the batch number, the analysis of that harvest day and the specification sheet for the presentation supplied. It is sent by email, with no sign-up: there is no customer portal and no password-protected download.

If your own customer asks you for the origin of the material, that document is what you forward. It is the point of the whole system.
