Applied research on Ulva ohnoi

Ecoalga works with Spanish public research centres to study the uses of Ulva ohnoi. Our main line of work is the SEAWINES project, focused on the application of Ulva extract in viticulture.

SEAWINES

Ulva extract applied to the vineyard

SEAWINES studies the application of Ulva ohnoi extract in vineyards, including the plant defence response against Plasmopara viticola and the effect on physiological parameters of the grape. The project combines laboratory work with multi-season field trials.

Field trials allow us to check how Ulva extract behaves under real conditions, season after season, and to adjust the formats we then supply to the agricultural sector.

    We review the research question, the crop or process and the expected timeline.

  2. Material supply

    We provide Ulva in the format required for laboratory or field trials.

  3. Joint follow-up

    We take part in the monitoring of the trial together with the research team.

  4. Results and scale-up

    If the results are positive, we define supply conditions for the industrial phase.
